MOSQUITO NET OUTREACH
Due to the civil war in adjacent South Sudan, Uganda is hosting over a million refugees in massive camps within their northern border. Unfortunately, many of these people were unprepared for the severe mosquito and malaria problems in this new location.
Gospel Outbound planted churches in South Sudan before the war. These are now active in the refugee camps, and it is through them that we are providing mosquito nets to the poor refugee families.
Malaria, spread by the mosquitos, actually kills many of the young whose bodies can’t fight the attack on their brains. Our Mosquito Net Outreach is saving many lives and spreading the love of Jesus in the camps.
ORPHAN CARE
Many poor countries around the world have an orphan crisis. People die young due to a lack of medical care for diseases we take for granted in the West. Uganda has the same problem, with close to 1 in 10 people in this country being young orphans. God tells us that the religion that He accepts as pure and faultless is to look after orphans and widows in their distress. (Js. 1:27)
Fortunately, African culture allows for most of these orphans to be taken in by extended families. Still, because of their very poor living conditions, the orphans are the last ones to receive support from their foster families. So many of them are left with very little, and most of them do not attend school because of the lack of school fees.
This is where Gospel Outbound steps in. Through the churches we plant and our regional directors, we monitor village orphans and their families, provide funds to help send them to school, and provide the required school uniforms.
